#RememberRekia was a collective campaign led by members of Assata’s Daughters, Black Lives Matter Chicago, and the fierce femmes of Fearless Leading by the Youth (F.L.Y). While Dante Servin (the off-duty Chicago police officer who shot & killed Rekia Boyd) is getting paid, and the Chicago Police Department is receiving $4 million a day, Chicago State University–the state’s only predominantly Black public university is closing due to budget cuts. The city and the state overinvest in policing and refuse to invest in our communities. CSU is a staple in our community.
For the People Artists Collective supported this campaign by creating propaganda, banners, participating in direct action, and organizing #RememberRekia actions of our own.
1. Dante Servin be fired WITHOUT his pension. #DontPayDante
2. Funding for Chicago State University to remain open. #SaveCSU
